A very good gesture from the American Embasy and such efforts should be commended.
I am however pained that the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe dont have a Website. The council represents all nurses and is undoubtebly the major in terms of embership.
Is it lack of resources? Innovation or just downplaying importance of technology in the digital wprld.

something should be done and this should be taken further to Nursing training schools to introduce computer labs for the benefit off students to research current information.

Lastly progress nursing as a profession to catch up with other professions and reguional nursing standards is at a tortoise pace.

i will be happy that the government has realized that we can not always depend on estimate and we should have the right information on finger tips so that we can plan and make sure we have the correct statics and when sourcing funds for the HIV & AIDS programme we will have problem .

i know most people will be against it considering what they call private but nothing is private on illness because one day people will know it so i recommend it so that we can have the drugs in time before we are bed ridden .
i have seen a lot of people who know their status in time we are enjoying the life well and you not differentiate between them.
its same as those who have BP and sugar so lets rally behind the minister so that we have a better country

But we have no policy but its good because i have one of my sister who had not been tested and she gave birth to a baby but the problem of PMCT came in play because no one knew that she was HIV positive and on giving birth she spread it to the baby and she also has the disease and the child passed away so i support the expecting mothers should go for testing so that they save the innocent soul in their womb.

People we can fight it out but most of the expecting mothers are the ones who are having problems because some of your husband knows there status and they are on ARVs and they left them in there company desk drawers and you are the ones who are going to die so the choice is yours these nurse want to save your life and the of unborn babies.

I got to say that this is a great ideea. I mean, the kids already have access to internet and now they are willing to experiment some things earlier than they used to do. And this happens no matter they have access to condoms in school or they don`t. So why don`t prevent unwanted pregnancies and STD when IT IS POSSIBLE ?

the first comment (on the bottom) makes no sense. The way he classifies types of AIDS is totally ignorant. Nice article though.

Thanks for the update. Good and well written article.

Its unfortunate that we still have high prevalence rates of HIV/AIDS in Zimbabwe and most of the efforts that have been undertaken by organisations such as yours have not managed to significantly reduce the mortality rate as a result of HIV/AIDS related illnesses. Your efforts have been excellent and I commend you for that.

I will use Uganda as an example of a success story. I have watched some of the success with my own eyes and worked to some of its impact.

Zimbabwean efforts to fight HIV/AIDS cannot be entirely successful without major government intervention, not only through anti-retroviral therapies, but through prevention and education. The success can only come from heavier investments, that cannot be done by organisation, but by governments.
